Abstract
Due to Egypt’s historical, geographical, and heritage importance, and its leading role in the Middle East and the Islamic world; this article’s aim is to re-analyze a persistent and serious project such as the caliphate’s revival in Egypt to have a better reading over this precarious period of Egypt’s modern history. Examining the Islamic ideology adopted by the Palace(a) which glorified King Faruk to the extent of naming him Caliph and the propaganda used by the influential Egyptian entourage of the young King. To run this long-term project, a series of activities were made to glorify King Faruk’s Islamic persona, such as celebrating traditions, especially Mahmal while restoring various Islamic edifices. Linking the main idea with the criticality of the misusage of religious authority on people was necessary to keep the research objective. This project was terminated for too many reasons, but at least it is considered an Islamic heritage-conserving point morally and materialistically, as well as being one of the ways used to consolidate King Faruk’s political authority.
