Abstract
The art of gilding is considered one of the authentic arts of the book, which the Muslim artist in the Ottoman era paid attention to and was keen to apply in various manuscripts, especially religious ones, such as the manuscript Dala’il al-Khairat (the subject of the research). This copy was decorated and gilded with the most creative and wonderful decorations that attract attention with the beauty, mastery and creativity of their execution. The significance of the study comes from focusing light on three of the most famous manuscript illuminators in the Ottoman era, especially the period of the 13th century AH/19AD and they are “Aḥmd Aʿṭā - Muhammad Nuri - Āsmāʿyl Ālzhdy,” whose signatures appeared on three exquisite copies of the manuscript Dala’il al-Khairat- never previously published.The study revealed the decorative artistic methods of these illuminators in implementing colored and gilded decorations and the extent of their cont-ribution to enriching the art of gilding in that period when this art was exposed to weakness and stagnation
