Abstract
Numerous rock art sites dating back to the Paleolithic and Neolithic eras constitute a distinctive feature of Saudi Arabia's archaeological heritage. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is recognized as one of the world's richest countries in terms of rock art. Three sites - Jubbah and Shuwaymis in the Hail region, and Himma in Najran - have been listed in the UNESCO World Heritage list. The Saudi authorities and organizations have placed great importance on preserving the arch-aeological heritage, recognizing its significance in sustainable tourism development. Raising community awareness is a critical component of any archaeological heritage preservation and management effort. This study aims to evaluate the level of awareness among Hail University students regarding the importance of rock art preservation as a source of sustainable development, and to suggest ways to improve their awareness of the preservation process. A quantitative approach was employed by distributing 204 questionnaires to a random sample of Hail Unive-rsity students. The findings indicate that students' awareness of rock art and its preservation is relatively low. Based on the results, several practical activities were proposed to increase the students' level of awareness.
